In partnership with Itawamba Community College, Tupelo High School will offer juniors and seniors with a 2.5 QPA and a minimum of a 16 on the ACT the chance to enroll in a Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment program, beginning in the Fall of 2013.
Highlights of the program are:
Courses will be taught either by our faculty or the ICC faculty in a traditional classroom on the THS campus. Sudents awarded both college and high school credit. (At this point, we are working to set the times and days of the classes and will announce that information in the near future.) At least 20 students need to sign up for a class to make. Names will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Classes will be offered two days a week and will cost $100 per class (the college application fee is waived). This fee includes the college text book. This is about a 1/4 of what a student would pay for a regular college-level course.
If a student fails to make a C or higher in the first course, he will not be allowed to participate in future dual enrollment courses. Once a student has seven absences, he is removed from the program.
If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s counselor at 841-8970.
