Mrs. Sherry Davis

  Sherry Sheffield Davis is a life-long resident of Tupelo. Davis graduated from Itawamba Community College in 1986 receiving her Associate of Arts degree. After graduating from ICC, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Mississippi in 1989. Her education path then took her back to the University of Mississippi where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1994 and her Masters of Educational Leadership in 1999. Davis attended Mississippi State University from 2009-2010 for Graduate Hours in Masters in Science General Biology.

 

Sherrie Davis is currently a Biology/Anatomy & Physiology Instructor at Itawamba Community College in Tupelo. She served as a 7th, 8th, and 9th grade Science Teacher from 1994-2011 in the Tupelo Public School District and became a National Board Certified Teacher in Science in 2002. Davis has received a number of educational awards:

2009 Create Teacher of Distinction Nominee

2006 Presidential Award in Math & Science Mississippi Finalist

2006 Innovations in the Classroom Award

2003 Wal-Mart Mississippi Teacher of the Year

2003 Tupelo Public School District Teacher of the Year

2003 & 1998 Tupelo Middle School Teacher of the Year

2002 Innovations in the Classroom Award

1998 Lee County Conservation Educator of the Year

 

Davis is involved with the Women in Higher Education Mississippi Network, Itawamba Community College Faculty Association, National Science Teachers Association, Southern Association of Marine Educators, Association for Excellence in Education, Phi Delta Kappa, and serves on the Lawhon Elementary School Community Outreach Board. Sherrie Davis has been married to Jonny Davis for 25 years. The couple has 2 sons: Jonathan (22, University of MS/Tupelo branch), Benjamin (17, Senior at THS), and a granddaugther: Emma Kate Davis (age 2).  Davis is a member of First United Methodist Church and attendee of St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo.
